User Name Remember Me? Just thought of this last night maybe a stupid idea. But hey someone might get a kick out of it. I'm a big fan of 2 stroke motorcycles but I find it hard as hell to find any that aren't fracked or the one's I do find are 5x more then what there worth. So being a Canadian what come's to mind when I think 2 stroke and easy to find snowmobile's. So now my mind starts working in the weird messed up way it do's.

What if i got a large snowmobile engine lets say cc or more. Then some how put it into a motorcycle. I know you would have to use a external motorcycle transmission. But that would give me a easy powers source to find and newer design and more power from the get go. All so im not playing on diulding this bike if I deside to anytime soon I have a bout 6 years of college ahead of me so money wont be there.

The bike Jokermachine is talking about is the Tularis Problem with most sled engines is they have an extremely hard hitting powerband when tuned for high performance. Going to want one with cable driven exhaust valves i'm not sure if any manufacturer uses cables. The gas driven one like on the rotax's have lag like a turbo.

The Tularis is an amazing bike. Power comes from an xc engine modified by hot seat performance. It has a shorter stroke then most sleds. A ducati transmission is used with a dry clutch. If you do figure out how to do this the nice thing about a sled engine is you can turn it in the frame so the intake is facing forward.

The Apex has a modified R1 engine in it, that ought to be enough I was thinking instead of using a CVT transmission just to use the Busa tranny with chain and run that to a sprocket on the front gear of the tracks?

Personally I believe that all CVT transmissions are junk. Every utility quad I have been on that has had a CVT transmission just wouldn't climb up anything, due to the belt slipping it seems. Maybe this could be done for a snowmobile that is just purposed for drag racing. I hear what your saying about chassis and track limitations so a bigger sled would be needed.
